Crop Top: Forever21

Pleated Overall Romper: Forever21 (similar one          here: http://bit.ly/1v47mne )

Ankle Boots: SODA Shoes, “Autry” sold at Tilly’s (link to shoes -> http://bit.ly/1kZNs9n )

Sunglasses: Kate Spade (similar here -> http://bit.ly/1p1hLrB )

Gold hammered hoop earrings: Express

Occasions: anything casual, shopping, running errands, hanging out with friends

When I was jogging one early evening, I came across an elementary school. As I was jogging along the outer fence of their playground, I noticed two little birds ahead of me, perched on the criss-cross wires of the fence. Soon as I jogged passed them, they would fly ahead of me (in a way that if they could draw in the air, it would make an infinite-loop shape) then land on the fence, waiting for me to jog passed them again. They did this dance for the entire length of the fence. It was so cute seeing them flap their yellow and grey feathers; it really was just like something out of Cinderella or Snow White! I love when things like this happen in nature. I take it as a sign that I’m doing the right thing, at the right time.

As I jogged around the front of the elementary school, I noticed their blue doors. A few days later, when I wore the outfit above, I knew it would be good to shoot there.

Although my ankle boots got dirty from wear, I still love them for their affordable price and the cut-out look reminds me of a pared-down version of the popular Balenciaga cut-out booties which the blog, NetRobe, has a great page about: http://bit.ly/1l6k29z

The overall romper by Forever21 is such a fun piece and reminded me of my old school days. For those of you who like crop tops but are shy about showing your tummy, these overalls are a great solution!

Let me know what YOU think of this outfit or the individual pieces. Don’t forget to Hype this outfit on Lookbook.nu !

In May, I had the pleasure of doing an informal runway show for a local Macy’s. Style & Co was having this spring fashion show all across the U.S. They even had hair and makeup artists for us - what a treat.

Our show was hosted by the lovely blogger of Style Me Grasie. (I didn’t know who she was until after the show when I looked up her blog - it’s great!) I got to model 5 outfits and I hope I inspired the audience to buy some of the pieces. I ended up buying the maxi dress! Why not? I had a Macy’s Friends & Family coupon afterall ;-)

I was surprised at the nice quality and affordable prices of Style & Co. I think they’re a good choice when you’re looking for classic pieces.

During the end of September, the weather was still really warm over by the coast. I love that I was still able to wear this chain-detailed, gold shimmery tank by Love Tree (although it was way too big for me - a size large - I couldn’t help buying it not only because it’s cute but it was only $15!). The sheer split paneling of the black backside also makes for an interesting look.

The wine colored jeggings by Uniqlo are really comfortable and have back pockets which I appreciate because then it doesn’t feel as ‘bare’ as regular leggings.

I love the chain and quilted detailing of the Mango purse. My black, open-to shoes are by Steve Madden; gold honeycomb earrings from Anthropologie, gold rings from Nordstrom, gold bracelet from Piperlime.com, and subtle, cat-eye sunglasses by Kate Spade.

This outfit is great for:

  • going out on a date
  • going to dinner
  • hanging out with friends at a nice lounge/bar

Feel free to comment on this look/post and be sure to ‘hype’ it on Lookbook.nu/flipflopsandsequins !    ~*Thank You*~

In the middle of last month, I got a chance to attend one of Uniqlo’s pre-grand opening parties in Santa Clara, California. {Click on any of the photos above to view them as a slideshow}

I first heard of this brand a few years ago from reading Glamour magazine. I remember there was an outfit put together and one of the items was an army green anorack/jacket. That was when this style of jacket was first becoming trendy. And by the way, because of that photo, I bought an army green jacket from Aritizia!

Then in 2011 I got a chance to shop at their SoHo store in New York City but all I bought were a pair of khaki shorts (for less than $20!). Just didn’t have time to shop that day and it was very crowded. But I remember they had so many good-quality items for very reasonable prices. As I was walking through the streets of the Big Apple that day, a stranger (I think she was from Germany by the sound of her accent) stopped me and pointed at my Uniqlo shopping bag telling me that she was looking for that store and could I help her. Of course! Always like to help out a fellow fashionista ;)

Anyways, back to the grand opening. It was fun and I ended up purchasing one of their light down jackets (in plum color) for only $25 before tax! What a great bargain - it was on sale from $79 to $49. Each attendee that night was given a $25 gift card that was good for only that night (THANK YOU, Uniqlo!) so that’s how I snagged such a good deal.

My next outfit post which was shot way before I knew about the grand opening, actually features a pair of jeggings I purchased from their San Francisco store earlier this year.

Thanks for reading and if you’re interested in shopping this brand, they now have an online store: www.uniqlo.com

My typical day… Well in the morning, I wake up. I go home. …
I don’t remember exactly how he worded this but it’s from “Stefon”, the character on Saturday Night Live. This quote was from the episode hosted by Bruno Mars. He’s hilarious!! Videos here ->  http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/exclusives/stefon/

This is a simple look great for anything casual - shopping, going to lunch with friends, daytime errands. Or for me, catching the last days of Indian Summer.

You can’t really see it but I’m wearing my gold heart bangle which I featured in an older post. Although I don’t see it on Urban Outfitter’s site anymore, they still have lots of cute bracelets in gold that aren’t too chunky: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?id=W_ACC_JEWELRY&silhouettes=bracelets

Hope this inspired your closet and please ‘hype’ this on Lookbook.nu (search for FlipFlopsAndSequins). Happy shopping!

Happy Indian Summer! Here’s a quick snapshot of what I’ll post later today with outfit details.

Happy Indian Summer! Here’s a quick snapshot of what I’ll post later today with outfit details.

I first saw a pair of flats that looked exactly like this in Redbook magazine - they had a 20% off promo code for it on LuLus.com (http://www.lulus.com/products/bamboo-object-12-leopard-print-d-orsay-pointed-flats/100178.html)

Unfortunately, it was all sold out. I was quite disappointed because I wanted this very much, especially at only $23!

Print D’Orsay Pointed Flats Bamboo Object 12 Leopard leather heel cup and wraparound ankle strap that fastens with a golden buckle (and hidden elastic)

Then today, as I was at the mall browsing around Charlotte Russe, I found the exact same shoes for $22.50! I couldn’t believe it but I tried them on and bought it right away. You can find it here:

They’re comfortable but I wish the ankle strap wasn’t so long. Will need to cut it off and ‘seal’ the end somehow…

~*Hello!*~

I hope you are enjoying the last days of summer. This outfit was perfect for those days where mornings started off on the cool side but got hotter as the hours passed. The Zara sweater provides just enough warmth while the ‘holes’ in the knit allowed for breezes to be felt. I had on an tank top underneath so that I could take off the sweater when it did get hot. I’ll post that outfit soon.

I love black and neon together.  I added splashes of color via my nails (blue L’Oreal polish in “Now you sea me”) and lipstick (orange Max Factor).  If you click on any of the photos above, you’ll be able to see these in more detail.

The Zara sweater was only around $26 and has a super-cute gold zipper on the back.

The handbag cost around $49 and is also by Zara. It has 2 main compartments with a zipper ‘pouch’ in the middle; a standard zipper pocket on the inside and a pocket in the front. The shoulder strap is adjustable which is great when I need to lengthen it to wear as a cross-body bag.

The Native American-inspired printed shorts are soft and comfortable, by American Eagle Outfitters.

Black wedge sneakers are by H&M and were also around $49. They were the last pair in the store and thank goodness they were my size! I knew I was meant to own them. ;)

I’m wearing (again!) the gold ‘Eloise’ tusk earrings from boohoo.com. And the same bracelet (part leather and part faux gold metal) which I wore in an earlier post.

I like how this outfit is simple and casual yet is on trend, fresh.

Hope it inspired you in some way! ‘Hype’ this outfit for me on Lookbook.nu …it’s much appreciated!  @}————-

Here’s a couple things that I’m loving for summer right now… :o)
Pale yellow nailpolish: by Butter London, called ‘Jasper’. I have two coats on and it’s pretty much true to what you see in the bottle. It’s pricier than OPI but I guess it’s because it is a “3 Free company”… it doesn’t contain formaldehyde, toluene, DBP. It smells like other nail polishes but I guess it’s good that it doesn’t have any of the chemicals above.
Quilted handbag: from Mango.com in the colour ‘water’. Got it on sale for $24.99, used to be #39.99. Right now the only color left is fuschia but it’s still really cute. Kinda wish I used this purse for my last outfit post instead of the nude wristlet!
What are some of your favorite fashion/beauty items this summer?
